LAVINIA JANNESSON

Divination, foretelling or predicting the future – one of the oldest and most widely practiced rituals in history. The work draws inspiration from the divination technique of molydbomency, the pouring of molten lead (or tin in modern times) into cold water. Upon contact the metal instantly solidifies, and the shapes created in this process are unique and irregular, offering a variety of options for interpretation. That same method for telling the future was applied in making these pieces. The water that was used in the production of the depicted shapes was gathered from each location the works were exhibited.
