Sunbreak
MDF boards with cut-out symbols, gaboon veneer, sunlight
2016

This piece consists of a wall made up of twelve mdf boards, perforated with the coordinates pointing to its exact position in space. Each boards is covered with gaboon veneer, an African wood with colors shifting from pale pink to reddish brown in its natural state. The wall hangs from the ceiling in front of a light inlet, forcing the sunlight to pass through the board's cut-out openings. As the sunbeams pass through the veneer the letters and symbols glow, their luminosity vary throughout the hours of the day.
